The On William Outskirts Fashion Festival was a massive success!
A lot of fantastic fashion events and shows coloured Northbridge from 21-27th September. You may have even seen some of the brilliant displays yourself such as Colosouls’ own theatrical fashion show, WABorn.
But is there anyone out there who finds latest fashion trends to be too… vibrant? Who craves the darker side of the limelight and desires an alternative atmosphere towards the way we dress? For those who missed out on the unbelievable Vespertine Fashion Show at Geisha, here is a glimpse from behind the curtain…
Let me start out by stating that the Verspertine Fashion Show didn’t just focus on the gothic community. It was instead an extravagant display starring spectacular models who were self-styled and dressed. Inspired by gothic, punk, deathrock, steampunk, dark burlesque and everything dramatic and dark, each of the six finalists convincingly conveyed originality and pure brilliance! The six finalists were judged by the audience as everyone in attendance was given a voting token to vote for their favourite on the night.
The night of nocturnal wonder would not of been made possible if it wasn’t for all the
organisers. Lisa Rodrigues, blog-based writer of Your Fashion constructed the most amazing night at the Geisha Bar during the Sunday night time slot called The Loft. Specialising in 80′s & 90′s alternative dance, new wave, post-punk and goth-rock (think Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, New Order and Bauhaus). Vespertine’s marvelous sponsors and stalls really added an extra layer to the experience, including Beyond the Trapdoor, Cindy Mather Makeup Artistry, Demure Couture, Miss Jam Jam, Mame Clothing, The Powder Room, Red Stripe Clothing, Red Dusk Design, Devilles Pad, The Moon, PLANET, Wildilocks, Kittie Chaos, Dark Nouveau and Jessica Frankenstein. Adele Tan helped Lisa organising the show, with Shaun Takes Photos snapping away all night. And of course let us not forget the host for the night, the quirky and charismatic Jon Madd giving the entire night the final touch of surrealism.
The night continued after winner Marijke Loosjes and runner-up Luke Van Den Hoek were announced as the dance floor rocked out to some classic tunes. To anyone out there wanting to experience something different, be sure to check out Your Fashion (www.yourfashion.com.au), The Loft Sunday nights at Geisha Bar at 135 James St in Northbridge and of course Colosoul Magazine!
